Police on Friday said they arrested two people in Wong Tai Sin, after videos of an 11-year-old girl seeking help went viral on social media. Officers detained the girl's 61-year-old grandmother and a 43-year-old foreign domestic helper on suspicion of “ill-treatment or neglect by those in charge of child or young person”, following preliminary investigations. The force had received a referral from the Social Welfare Department amid suspicions that the girl might have been mistreated by her family. She was hospitalised after investigators found her limbs swollen and red. One video purportedly showed the girl – who was believed to be inside a room – calling for help, saying her family was going crazy. Loud bangs could also be heard in the video's background. Another one showed a man shouting aggressively and swearing at the girl. Edited by Aaron Tam
