Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau told lawmakers on Tuesday that RTHK would strengthen its role as a government department and public broadcaster, enhancing the dissemination of government messages and policy promotion. Briefing legislators on the first Hong Kong's five-year plan and the Policy Address, he said the public broadcaster would make greater use of new media platforms and artificial intelligence technology. "To increase outreach, RTHK will strengthen its use of new media platforms and artificial intelligence technologies to improve production quality and efficiency," Yau said. He also said the station would deepen collaboration with broadcasters on the mainland and in other Belt and Road regions. Director of Broadcasting Angelina Kwan said, in response to lawmakers' questions, that RTHK is realigning its manpower and resources in line with the 15th Five-Year Plan to tell the stories of the country and Hong Kong to a global audience. She said a dedicated task force had been set up to manage and review the direction of new media platforms, using internal resources without additional funding.
