Readers of the Wayzata Sun Sailor were recently asked to vote for their favorite local businesses. Participants could make nominations in a wide range of categories, from the best teacher to the best travel agency. Readers chose family-owned Wayzata Home Laundry & Dry Cleaners as their favorite in this category.

The Wayzata laundry service is a family-owned business. It’s been serving the Wayzata and Lake Minnetonka communities since 1955, when it was established by Pearl and Michael Dynan. Their son, Kevin Dynan, owns and runs the business today.

“We’re proud of this award because it’s based on our customers’ evaluation of service,” explains son Kevin Dynan. Unlike competitors, all work is done on premises.

“We’ve been in the community for over 60 years,” says Dynan, “So we feel it’s just as much a privilege as it is a responsibility to make sure we deliver service and quality. I’ve known some of our customers all my life.”

This is not the first time that Wayzata Home Laundry & Dry Cleaners has been chosen to receive the award. They were voted as the #1 dry cleaner in the area by Sun Media readers during the 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards, as well.

The home laundry and dry cleaner got high marks from readers for service—but also for innovation and convenient features like their 24-hour drop box, and free pick-up and delivery services. They feature a website map which shows the area they can service. Wayzata Home Laundry & Dry Cleaners also features monthly special offers like the “Dirty Dozen” – 12 shirts laundered for just $2.50 each, every Wednesday. Local residents can sign up to receive monthly emails with the specials and coupons.

“Obviously, we provide the services you would expect from a professional home laundry and dry cleaner,” explains Dynan, “We’ll get that stain out of your favorite shirt, and we’ll replace a zipper or a button. But we also offer services that many cleaners no longer want to deal with. We’ll take care of your draperies. We’ll clean your fur coat, and we’ll even take care of your flags. We can offer this because we don’t just take it in and then have it shipped out. Whatever you ask us to take care of never leaves the premises.”

On-premise cleaning also means that Wayzata Home Laundry & Dry Cleaners can offer same-day services. Ever wonder if you should leave your clothes in the plastic bags after you pick them up? The answer to this, as well as other frequently asked questions, is available on their website.
