Terrasun to Provide Energy Storage and Lifecycle Services for Leeward Renewable Energy's Willow Springs 3 and Chaparral Solar Projects

IHI Terrasun Solutions, Inc. (Terrasun), a subsidiary of the IHI Corporation, has signed an agreement with Leeward Renewable Energy to provide energy storage system solutions and lifecycle services for Leeward's Willow Springs 3 and Chaparral Solar utility-scale solar-plus-storage projects in Kern County, California.
Upon completion of the respective construction projects, Willow Springs 3 and Chaparral Solar will collectively be capable of generating 174MW of clean energy and have a storage capacity of 88MW / 352MWh. Terrasun will support Leeward's operations of the energy storage system portions of both solar-plus-storage facilities to bring their customers one step closer to providing renewable energy and carbon-neutral portfolios.

Construction will begin December 2021 and be completed by December 2022.
