Richard Liebowitz Announces CameraCares Mentorship Program with Bowery Mission - NY Press Photographers Association

New York City, New York May 4, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Richard Liebowitz--a talented professional with an impressive career spanning the photography, arts, and theatre industries-has launched a new community program called CameraCares. CameraCares is a partnership program with the Bowery Mission, a non-profit organization that provides hot meals and shelter to those in need, and the New York Press Photographers Association, America's Oldest Press Photographers organization.
CameraCares is a mentorship program where professional photographers work with the underserved community one-on-one. Mentees are given the incredible opportunity to work with these professionals to learn about camera, composition, lighting, photoshop, visual storytelling, and photojournalism. Mentors of the program can choose based on the mentee's interest in what to teach, including street photography, portraits, architecture, landscapes, spot news, animal photography, documentary photography, and more.
Canon USA has graciously loaned CameraCares cameras and lenses for the program.
CameraCares not only teaches about photography but also life lessons and gives the community a new way to view the world and to see what is possible when positive change is sought out.
Richard Liebowitz is a regular volunteer at the Bowery Mission, preparing and serving food to those who are experiencing hunger and need. Through the organization's efforts, it has provided over 250,000 meals and over 56,000 nights of shelter in 2022. Richard Liebowitz's community program CameraCares will help expand the reach of the Mission.
This Saturday, May 6th, 2023, the photographs taken by the mentee photographers from the winter session will be showcased in an exhibition called "The Bowery Collection" at the Bowery Mission campus at 227 Bowery, New York, New York 10002. The exhibition is free and open to the public from 2:30-4:30 pm. All photos will be for sale, and all proceeds will go directly to the mentee photographers.
