One of Europe’s leading stag party booking companies, The Stag’s Balls, is expanding its operations westwards as it looks to the lucrative bachelor party market in the United States.

With 2.3 million couples wedding in the US each year versus 22,000 and one 170,000 in Ireland and the Uk respectively that is a potential market size in excess of 4 million stag and hen parties each year. This coupled with a more tech savvy customer makes this move look very promising for the fresh new travel tech company.

The Irish company, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, is already operating throughout Europe. The Stag’s Balls brings a unique twist to the stag party stag party industry by giving users a booking experience far more similar to online travel agencies such as booking.com and airbnb. This is in contrast to the traditional travel agent style and service led stag party booking companies that have led the way in this industry to date. The company has created its platform to capitalise on the lack of such technology in the industry and the increase in mobile devices amongst all facets of the global population. The platform is going down extremely well with their millennial target market with 10,000s of users signing up in 2016.

The technology-focused business is able to offer packages at far better rates than their competitors. Packages for stag parties offered on TheStagsBalls.com are typically the same price as going direct to the end suppliers; this is extremely disruptive in the archaic group booking market. According to a recent Google Consumer Survey of more than 1,000 invites, released by Priceline in April 2015, some 45% of people invited to a hen or stag party decided to skip it due to costs. The Stag’s Balls, capitalising on its competitively priced packages and its superior technology, is experiencing exponential growth in this expanding market space.

A recent study by the Department of Economics at Emory University in Atlanta found the growth in the $50 billion wedding and stag party industry is partly “due to the rise of consumerism and industry efforts to commodify love and romance”.

The Company was founded in 2014 by two industrial designers, Darragh Kirby and Shane Murphy. Both say their background in design has helped them to create and implement solutions to almost any problem presented to them. They have taken this skill and used to it to develop solutions for the travel technology industry.

Currently trading off an MVP they plan to bring a fully automated solution to the market in 2018. This solution will increase the efficiency of their business model, bringing a wider range of suppliers to a larger market. The ability of this platform to automatically reserve availability with suppliers in real time without the need for a middleman will enable rapid global scale.
