Ultra Prosthetic and Orthotics patient representative Stephani has started an amputee and prosthetic support group so that fellow amputees have a way to share, discuss and work through challenges. This group allows those who need it to talk with others who understand what they are going through.
The group meets monthly and is open to all amputees, regardless of who their prosthetic company is. The group allows amputees of al ages and back ground to come together and not only discuss their challenges but to socialize and meet other people. The Carson City based group includes Reno and surrounding areas.
Ultra Prosthetics and Orthotics are a unique company providing amputees with customized prosthetics. Company founder and President, Daniel O. Haney, C.P., is certified in prosthetics by the American Board for Certifications in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
Dan Haney originally began his own practice in San Jose, California and specialized in the central fabrication of prosthetics. In 1990 he began to visit patients in their home and hospital to provide a unique prosthetic care service.
This unique service continues today with patients being examined in their homes or hospital and then being fitted with their prosthetics at Ultra’s prosthetics facility. The facility moved to Carson City in 1993 and provides care throughout the United States.
The company’s experience spans 40 years, from wood and leather to today’s modern carbon fiber and titanium components. The company provide customized prosthetics and a range of orthotics including braces, orthoses and supports.
The company provide prosthetics for below and above the knee, arm and hand prosthetics, pediatric prosthetics, cosmetic prosthetics, hip disarticulation and hemi pelvectomy procedures. Cosmetic prosthetics are modeled on the patient’s sound limb to gain matching proportions and are covered in urethanes and silicones. Fingers and toes can have acrylic nails and skin can have veins, freckles and hairs added.
