Intermountain Health Receives One of the Nation's Largest Gifts in Pediatric Care

Oct 23, 2026

Felicia and Ben Horowitz's gift will help Intermountain Health bring leading pediatric specialists and expertise to the Nevada's first stand-alone children's hospital.

LAS VEGAS, NV (PRUnderground) October 23rd, 2026

Intermountain Foundation announced today that Nevada's first stand-alone children's hospital will be named Intermountain Health Felicia and Ben Horowitz Children's Hospital in honor of a historic $150 million commitment.

Felicia Horowitz, president of the Horowitz Family Foundation and co-founder and president of The Paid in Full Foundation, and her husband, Ben Horowitz, co-founder and general partner of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), have long invested in people and ideas with the potential to create lasting change.

This is one of the largest gifts made to a children's hospital in the United States and comes at a critical moment as families still face significant barriers to specialized pediatric care. This new commitment will help bring leading providers, specialized care, advanced research, and greater access to one of the nation's fastest-growing states.

"At the heart of this gift are children and families," said Felicia Horowitz. "Every parent wants to know that when their child needs care, the very best people and resources are there for them. Nevada has a responsibility to create a place where exceptional care and exceptional caregivers come together for its children. If we can help make that possible, the impact will be felt for generations."

A Nevada investment with a broader vision for children's health

The $150 million commitment is dedicated to building a new future for children and families in Nevada. At the same time, it represents an important step in a much larger vision for Intermountain Health: building the nation's model health system for children that connects expertise, innovation, research, and care across the communities and states it serves.

As Intermountain Health strengthens children's health, investments in one community can contribute to a larger culture of learning and innovation. The expertise recruited, programs developed, research advanced, and lessons learned can strengthen an increasingly connected approach to children's health across the region and nation. This gift is rooted in Nevada, but the future it accelerates belongs to children across Intermountain.

This gift is also part of the Nevada Campaign for Kids focused on creating the nation's model health system for children. Through philanthropy, advocacy, and community involvement, the campaign gives everyone a role in advancing what is possible for children and families.

"This extraordinary endorsement is profound in its reach. It will change the lives of children, carry families through some of life's hardest moments, and inspire the caregivers who dedicate themselves to serving them," said David Flood, chief development officer of Intermountain Health and president of Intermountain Foundation. "This gift propels pediatric care in Nevada 10 to 15 years into the future, and its significance is not limited to one building or one community. Intermountain has cared for children for more than 100 years, and Felicia and Ben's generosity is a cornerstone as we expand our vision to be the nation's model health system for children. With their support, we will recruit exceptional talent, grow specialized programs, and advance research that strengthens care for children far beyond Nevada. Just as importantly, their leadership shows what's possible when a community comes together for its children, and it invites everyone to be part of what comes next."

Building exceptional children's care in Nevada

Intermountain Health Felicia and Ben Horowitz Children's Hospital will grow alongside Nevada's communities and meet the unique needs of children. Beyond offering a welcoming, child-centered environment, the hospital will recruit pediatric providers and address critical needs such as behavioral health and specialized pediatric care. Together, these investments can create opportunities for Nevada's children and families that do not exist today.

"Great institutions are built by great communities that see beyond themselves," said Ben Horowitz. "What excites me about this effort is the opportunity to attract exceptional physicians, nurses, and caregivers who want to dedicate themselves to improving children's lives. When talented people come together around an important mission, impact happens. That's the future this hospital has the potential to create."

Building the nation's model health system for children

Children's health is not confined to the walls of a children's hospital. It begins in communities, clinics, and primary care offices, and extends through specialty and complex care. Intermountain Health's broader vision is to connect those pieces so children can benefit from exceptional care and expertise throughout their lives.

The investment underway in Nevada adds another powerful component to that vision, building on nationally recognized pediatric specialty care at Primary Children's Hospitals in Utah and expanding pediatric services in Billings, Montana. A new children's hospital in Las Vegas creates opportunities to extend the nation's model health system for children to more families across the nation who need exceptional care for complex illnesses.

Together, these investments demonstrate what can happen when communities see themselves not simply as beneficiaries of healthcare, but as partners in shaping what healthcare can become.

Momentum for Nevada's children

Felicia and Ben Horowitz's transformational leadership gift follows a series of philanthropic commitments supporting the Nevada Campaign for Kids and reflects growing momentum behind Nevada's first stand-alone children's hospital, which is expected to break ground next week.

"Here in Las Vegas, we've built world-class entertainment, dining, sports, and resorts. Now, together, we're building world-class care for the kids who need us most, and for every generation that follows. We couldn't be more grateful and proud of our community," said Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts International and Wendy Hornbuckle, Co-Chairs of the Intermountain Health Nevada Campaign for Kids.

Intermountain Health Felicia and Ben Horowitz Children's Hospital is expected to open in 2030 at the UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park in southwest Las Vegas. While the hospital will carry the Horowitz name, Felicia hopes the project ultimately reflects something much larger than a single gift.

"Creating a healthier future for children is never about one family or one gift," said Felicia Horowitz. "Generosity takes many forms, and we're grateful to be part of something that will bless the lives of children and their families across Nevada. Our hope is that families see this hospital as something that belongs to all of us. Every child deserves every opportunity to thrive."
