Inspired by Detroit's East Side and its Italian-American traditions, the newly released novel explores the bonds between fathers and sons and the enduring power of second chances.
Detroit, Michigan Oct 23, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Author Antonio John Soave announces the release of his new novel, Ice Time, now available for purchase on Amazon. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing on Detroit's East Side, Soave brings readers a heartfelt story that combines the rich traditions of Italian-American family life with the passion, discipline, and emotional intensity of hockey.
At its heart, Ice Time is a story about fathers and sons, the complicated bonds of family, and the struggle to reconcile the past with the present. Set against the backdrop of Detroit's Italian-American community, the novel explores themes of loyalty, friendship, faith, forgiveness, and redemption.
Through the highs and lows of hockey and the everyday challenges of family life, Ice Time examines how the lessons learned on the ice can shape the people we become off it. As family relationships are tested and old wounds resurface, the characters must confront difficult choices and discover whether love and forgiveness can overcome years of misunderstanding.
For Soave, the story is rooted in personal experience and a deep connection to his hometown.
Born and raised on Detroit's East Side, Soave grew up surrounded by the neighborhoods, family traditions, and hockey culture that helped inspire the novel. Today, he remains actively involved in the sport as a Bantam youth hockey coach for his son's team.
Soave also brings an extensive writing background to his first foray into this particular world of fiction. Over more than three decades, he has authored numerous publications covering international affairs, business, law, and sports. He previously served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Law & Practice and founded the Journal of International Business. His professional career has also included international sports initiatives and projects involving professional sports organizations.
With Ice Time, Soave turns his storytelling toward the people, relationships, and traditions that have remained close to his heart.
Blending Italian-American heritage, Detroit hockey culture, and the emotional complexities of family life, Ice Time offers readers a story about where we come from, the people who shape us, and the courage it takes to forgive.
